NRA Certified Professional Firearms Training in the Iowa and Wisconsin

This four hour course will meet all the requirements for the Iowa Weapons Carry Permit and the requirements for the Utah Non-Resident Concealed Carry permits. You qualify for TWO PERMITS WITH ONE COURSE!! Taught by an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor with over 24 years of law enforcement, teaching, and military experience. Items covered include safe gun handling, basic pistol concepts, carry options, and related Iowa and Utah Law. There is NO RANGE time for this course. NO Weapons or Ammo needed. Course Cost is $90.

Utah Concealed Carry permit packets will be available FREE of CHARGE! Florida Concealed Carry Permit Packets are also available for those with prior Military experience FREE of CHARGE!!  Notary, Passport Photo, and Fingerprint services will be available for an additional fee.

WOMEN OF ALL AGES

This three hour course focuses on defending yourself from unwanted contact or attacks by strangers, looking at a three fold approach. First, becoming aware of the environment you find yourself in, second deterring people from unwanted contact, (touching or grabbing) and last, disabling an attacker who becomes persistent.

This is not a strength based approach. In other words, you don't have to be terribly strong to learn these techniques. We use both empty hand and kubaton self-defense, showing you first that you have weapons built into your body, but also show you how to use a simple tool to achieve your goal.

Dave Oberhart is a two-time 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, and owns his own self defense training company based in Durham, NC. In 2011, he was recognized by the American Martial Arts Alliance as one of their outstanding male black belts. His self defense approach focuses on situational awareness, escapes, and finally disabling attackers.

Dave has been a teacher most of his professional life, teaching communications at the college and university level. He is also a computer consultant, with a focus on small to medium sized businesses.

This course will give you the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to safely handle handguns.

The course is designed to teach the basics of pistol marksmanship. You will learn the functions of the different kinds of handguns and ammunition. The course emphasizes firearms safety while teaching the techniques of aiming, trigger control, hold control, and stance.

This 8 hour course offers a solid base upon which a student can safely build their shooting skills and includes two hours of shooting time on the range. All course materials including targets will be provided. Students to provide their own gun and ammunition.  NO LIVE AMMUNITION IN THE CLASSROOM.  NO aluminium cased ammunition allowed on the range.  An NRA certificate of training will be awarded to all participants who successfully complete the course.

The NRA Basic Pistol Course is a prerequisite for the NRA Personal Protection courses.

This course meets and exceeds the requirements for the Iowa Weapons Permit and the Florida Non-Resident Concealed Weapons Permit.

What you need to bring:

- 200 rounds of ammo

The Basic Shotgun course can be as short as ten hours. In it students will get the NRA's The Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook and intensive lessons in safety, gun handling, fundamentals of shotgun shooting, several practical exercises on the firing range, cleaning, storage, and a summary of shotgun sports and activities.

The are no prerequisites for taking this course, and the material is accessible to appropriately supervised mature children. Be aware that the proper fitting of a shotgun to a shooter can be time-consuming.

Course Completion

For best results, the shotgun shooting skills exercise is repeated several times, with feedback from the instructor.

Students will receive feedback on the live-fire exercise and a course certificate upon successful completion of the lessons. There is a short written test on the lesson material at the end of the course.

The NRA Home Firearm Safety Course is the basic course I recommend to anyone unfamiliar with guns or who needs a to learn gun terminology.

In this four hour course students will get the NRA's Home Firearm Safety handbook, pamphlets on safety and terminlogy and lessons on the rules of safe gun handling, identifying and unloading various firearms, ammunition, cleaning, and storage. Students will also get hands-on experience with the most common types of handguns, rifles and shotguns.

THIS COURSE IS ESSENTIAL FOR ANYONE WHO CARRYS CONCEALED!

The NRA Personal Protection OUTSIDE the Home (PPOH) is the

next level up from NRA Personal Protection INSIDE the Home. The main focus of this course is the effective use of a concealed handgun for self defense on the street. Included are chapters on concealment techniques and devices, presenting the handgun from concealment, utilizing cover and concealment outdoors. This innovative course include presentation and movement, point shooting, instinctive shooting, low-light shooting, engaging multiple targets and one-hand shooting.

These skills and other presented in this course form the core shooting skills used to counter a life-threatening attack outside the home.

The course is divided into two levels: Basic PPOH and ADVANCED PPOH. The Basic Level covers presentation from a concealed holster (or purse), shooting from cover, shooting one-handed, and point shooting. The Advanced level includes moving while shooting, shooting from low cover, shooting from sitting, turning, prone, low-light and hip-shooting (called the "speed rock"). In total there are seven segments including Strategies for Personal Safety Outside the Home; Carrying a Concealed Handgun and Presenting from Concealment; Developing Basic Defensive Shooting Skills; Developing Concealed Carry Skills; plus the all-important Self-Defense and the Law. The course is a hands-on program with both levels encompassing fourteen hours of classroom and range instruction.

A certificate of training will be awarded for both Basic and Advanced PPOH to all participants who successfully complete the course.

This course is the next phase in the NRA program after completing Basic Pistol.  The NRA Basic Pistol Course is a prerequisite for this class.

It is intended to further develop the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and provide information on the law-abiding citizen's right of self defense.

Students must bring their own handgun and ammunition.

The course teaches you the proper mindset and awareness required for effective self defense, plus the fundamentals of defensive marksmanship.

Strategies for home safety and provisions of the law pertaining to use of deadly force for self defense are also covered.

Levels of awareness, defensive mindset, and defensive accuracy are the focus of this day-long course. Shooters will learn to deal with the pressure of "stress fire" and how to compensate for the lack of fine motor skills under duress.

A certificate of training will be awarded to all participants who successfully complete the course.
